Hey Everyone!!!

This week has been so great! I can't believe it's already been almost three weeks and then six weeks since I left home. They weren't kidding when they said time goes by way fast on the mission :) It's been so much fun though! I am learning a lot and this week was very exciting because we got to teach a lot of lessons!

On pday last week we wen't to a trampoline park and all the missionaries went and got to jump for free because a member owns the place. It was super cool and really fun. Then on Tuesday we got to teach Dan and Tammy. They are amazing! We had a wonderful lesson with them about the Priesthood. We also had a lesson with a member referral and it's a girl named Mikayla who's boyfriend just went on a mission so she is interested in learning more about the church. So cool right?? We taught her the first lesson and she really liked it. I'm excited about the work we have here. Then on Thursday, we taught Elaine. She is 8 years old and her mom wanted her to have the missionary discussions. She's so cute! She actually reminds me a lot of Quinn, she loves her ipad and all her shopkins haha. But we taught her about Prophets and there's this cool object lesson that Sister Tillotson did where she holds out her fist and tells Elaine to put her fist under hers and try to follow her as she moves. Then she told Elaine to close her eyes and try it. It's impossible, right? So then she gets a pen and tells Elaine to hold the bottom of the pen, close her eyes, and then follow her fist. It works because she is holding the pen. So Sister Tillotson's fist was representing God, Elaine was representing herself or us, and the pen was representing Prophets. As we hold on to the Prophet we can follow God. I love this! Elaine did too and after that she said, "The Prophet is mixing up the world into one big happy family!" It was so cute and such a sweet experience to see her understanding :)

Other things we did this week was service and met with members. I think we've almost met everyone so that's been awesome. We've also done a lot of tracting and finding new people to teach and share a message with. It's been fun seeing so many people each day. Which we got a postcard in our mail the other day, but it wasn't for us. It was sent to the wrong address so we thought we'll use this as a teaching opportunity and return it to the owner. It's really cool, because the guy who it was supposed to be sent to (his name is Lyle. ) Lives right at the edge of our boundaries, so we barely got to go visit him. When we got there he was on his lawn mower and didn't pay much attention to us, but once we got closer he got off and talked to us. We told him what happened and asked if we could share a scripture with him. We shared Helaman 5:12, and he said he read something like that in Matthew that morning. It was so cool talking to him about the importance of Christ and building our foundation on centered on Him. He accepted a Book of Mormon and said he would read it. Yay! We have been so blessed to be able to meet him through a postcard. I love it. God works in mysterious ways, but He always knows what he's doing.

There is also a lady in our ward who just opened a bakery! That was exciting going to see it and talk to all the people that came in. She also gave us a lot of the goodies, so that was nice :) Okay, quick story, we went to a Walmart one night to use the restroom and on the way there I saw a worker walking behind us. I asked her how her day was going and she said, not great. Her grandpa was just admitted to the hospital and it was very serious. We shared a little pass a long card with her and she went to the back room. After that Sister Tillotson felt impressed to give her a Book of Mormon, so she quickly wrote her testimony in one and we waited for her to come back out and when she did we gave her the Book of Mormon and told her about it's importance and how it can help us through difficult times. It was just such a neat experience, because we weren't expecting to find someone so open to hearing our message in a Walmart.

I know that God has a plan for us and he puts people in our paths for a reason. I am so grateful for the Gospel in my life and the peace it brings me. I just absolutely love it here! I know that my testimony continues to grow everyday and that I am learning so much about the people and the Book of Mormon. I'm so grateful to be in Arkansas! I hope you all have an amazing week! One of the things I would encourage you to do is to think about how you've seen the Lord's hand in your life and share it with someone else or write it down :) I love you all so much!! Miss you!!

Love, Sister Burton

I'm so sorry, but I promise I will have pictures next week!! Just remember my face from the old pictures, I promise nothing has changed ;)

Temple Tuesday November 13, 2017

Hey Friends!! This week was so fun!! We had the amazing opportunity to go to the St.Louis temple this week! I loved it so much! I am so grateful we were able to go because we don't have on in our mission, but blessed with the best mission president :) We also had a fun time with our zone this week and did interviews with our mission president and his wife. They are such great people with lots of advice for us missionaries, I love it!  Something amazing that happened this week was we had exchanges with the traveling sisters (they go around the mission visiting all the sisters) and so there were four sisters just in our area, but it was the busiest day of the week! We had so many lessons that with each companionship we didn't have any gaps of time. It was such a cool miracle because we were able to teach so many people and have such a great experience. I just thought that was so cool!  Another thing that I started this week was reading the Book of Mormon and just...

TRY IT!!! July 9, 2018

Hello Friends and Family! This week was super good! I learned a lot! We got to meet our new Mission President and his wife this week! yay! They are so sweet! I am very excited to be able to work with them, even though it is sad to see the Lovelands go, they were amazing. I'm President and Sister Strong will be too! One thing I learned from President Strong this week was to TRY IT. He talked a little bit about how you won't know unless you try. This really stuck out to me because it works so well with everything! Like, you never know if that person is going to be interested in the gospel unless you try talking to them, right? You don't know if you'll be good at something unless you try. I love this so much! I'm not sure why it clicked so well, but it did. and it's TRUE! We are here to TRY. We have been sent to earth and given the gift of agency to try things. To try to improve and be better. We can't become perfect at something unless we try. I am so g...
