Hey everyone!!
This week has been so good! We had transfers, which was a happy sad moment. It was sad to say goodbye to Sister Knight, but it was so exciting meeting my new companion Sister Robinette. She is from Henderson Nevada and this is her last transfer, meaning she goes home in 6 weeks! It's crazy! But it means we are working hard to make her last 6 weeks the best. I'm very excited about it! We also have a car now every other week, so it has been really nice being able to drive around to things which I am very grateful about.
Fun story, there is a cute fun lady who works at the Coleman Theater with us and she invited us over to her house to show us her Christmas trees. She has about 7 and they are all decorated with Hallmark ornaments. She has hundreds of them! It was really cool. She showed us all her different trees and it was fun. Then her husband asked where I was from and when I said Cottonwood Heights he asked if I knew the mayor. I said I know who he is, but not personally. Then he said Mayor Cullimore is from Miami and they are old friends. So he took a picture of me with him and sent it to the Mayor back home. It was so funny and so amazing to see how small of a world it is! It was exciting being able to make that connection with them :) (I got a text from Mayor Cullimore's wife, Laurie, that it was posted on his Facebook page. It was such a fun surprise to get. Glenn says Mariah is representing our town well!)
We got some new investigators and it has been so good! There are many miracles happening here and I love it! We went to visit with someone who was interested in the church and now we will be teaching him and his wife which we are so excited about. We also met with someone who had previously been taught a long time ago, we found him again and he wants to prepare to be baptized as well, so we are working hard! It's amazing how the Lord prepares people for us to teach. He knows who is ready and helps us find them as we pray for guidance.
Another amazing thing, the new curriculum for Relief Society and Priesthood! I think it is wonderful how we will be able to counsel with one another and help teach from recent conferences. It's amazing the things we will be able to do for the ward and to teach according to their needs. It was sad to hear the President Thomas S. Monson passed away, but I know he has been warmly welcomed on the other side by his wife and family. I know that He truly was a prophet called of God to help and guide the whole church. I know that the words they speak are for us and apply to each of our lives. I know that as we follow the counsel from President Monson and strive to read the Book of Mormon every day, we will be able to have the Spirit with us and be able to come closer to our Savior, Jesus Christ. I am so grateful for the gospel, and I have such a strong testimony that the Book of Mormon is the word of God and is written for our day. I know that as we listen to the Prophet and Apostles we can learn so much and gain greater testimonies of this gospel. I love you all so much!! I hope each of you have an amazing week and enjoy the new year! Thank you so much for all your love and support! :)
Love, Sister Burton
