WHAT A WEEK! January 29, 2018

Hey Everyone!! This week was an adventure that's for sure :) It started off a little rough, but we had a wonderful experience of getting a blessing from one of the Elders in our district. It was so nice being able to feel comforted by the Spirit. I have learned so much about blessings and that it is OKAY to ask for help. It's OKAY to ask for a blessing. The Lord loves us and wants to bless us. We just need to do our part and reach out to Him.   I am sorry I don't have much time to write, but one miracle story we had this week was we were walking from lunch to our place we do service and we had like 30 minutes before we had to be there. We weren't sure what to do, but we kept walking and then we looked to the left of us and there was a man walking in the parking lot. So my companion was here last year and was teaching this guy named Jim, and so she looked at the guy and said, "I think that's Jim!" We walked over and talked to him and it was him!! H

TREASURE UP THE WORDS OF LIFE January 22, 2018

Good Morning friends and family!!        So sorry about the other email again.. but I won't forget to send this one this time haha I promise! This week has been so good! I have learned and grown so much! This week started off freezing, the temperature was -12 with the windchill, but then it got up to about 60! It was crazy and kind of funny because it was cold at the beginning of the week and then right as it warmed up, we got the car. It was funny, but so grateful for wonderful members that drive us around :)  We also had interviews with our mission president this week which went really well! He cares so much about each of us as if we are his own children, which is so great! During this time, my companion and I taught our district about how important it is to know the doctrine behind the commitments we extend. I loved being able to study the talk that was given by Elder Renlund called, "Treasure up the words of life." that he gave to mission presidents a

MIRACLES AND SNOW!! January 15, 2018

SO SORRY!!!  This was last week's email! I forgot to send it! But I'll send another one today as well! Now you just get double Sister Burton this week, lucky you :) haha  This week has been so good! But of course as soon as we get the car, there's something wrong with it. We had a nail stuck in one of the tires and the air was off on all of them, but we got it fixed so that was an adventure! haha Other than that things ran smoothly. We had Zone Conference this week with lots of other missionaries and that was super fun being around them and my companion had to give her departing testimony which was sad, but she did a great job. :)  Sadly we had to give the car back to the Elders for the week after that, but our members are amazing at giving us rides, we are so grateful for them!  Okay, so miracle that happened this week. My companion Sister Robinette served here a year ago and when she first came back she wondered why she was called to be here again. Then she tho

NEW YEAR!! NEW COMPANION!! January 8, 2018

Hey everyone!! This week has been so good! We had transfers, which was a happy sad moment. It was sad to say goodbye to Sister Knight, but it was so exciting meeting my new companion Sister Robinette. She is from Henderson Nevada and this is her last transfer, meaning she goes home in 6 weeks ! It's crazy! But it means we are working hard to make her last 6 weeks the best. I'm very excited about it! We also have a car now every other week, so it has been really nice being able to drive around to things which I am very grateful about.  Fun story, there is a cute fun lady who works at the Coleman Theater with us and she invited us over to her house to show us her Christmas trees. She has about 7 and they are all decorated with Hallmark ornaments. She has hundreds of them! It was really cool. She showed us all her different trees and it was fun. Then her husband asked where I was from and when I said Cottonwood Heights he asked if I knew the mayor. I said I know who he is,

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR!! January 1, 2018

Guess who's staying in Miami longer than 6 weeks? This sister missionary! haha I'm very excited I get to stay in the Miami ward for another transfer :) I love this area and the people here so it will be nice staying another 6 weeks. However, sadly my companion is leaving and I will be getting someone new. I am excited though because my new companion has been here before so she already knows the area. It will be a great start to the new year! I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and New Years!  We had James' Baptism  on Saturday !! We are so happy for him and his desire to become a member of the church. He was so thrilled to be baptized and now he keeps saying he wants to get all his friends and family in the church :) It's amazing the Spirit we were able to feel that night as he entered the waters of baptism. It was just so touching to see someone making that covenant with God. :)  Funny story- In our ward building we have some suits for baptism and there is an

SICKYPOO ON THE MISSION December 18, 2017

This week was an adventure! A lot of good things happened, but sadly I was also sick all week. I had a cold and cough that just made it a little difficult to talk which is hard being a missionary, but everything worked out the way it was supposed to and we had a fun week. We did lots of service and got to help the Coleman theater for a show they had. It was the first sold out show since the 50s so that was exciting! :) We also had a big lunch with the other missionaries near us, because it was our senior couple, Elder Chipman's birthday. They are so sweet and it was so fun being with the other missionaries.  Another amazing thing that happened this week was we had a lesson with our investigator named Joseph. He's been loving meeting with us and learning more about the gospel, so this week we invited him to be baptized and he said yes! We are looking forward to helping prepare him to enter the waters of baptism in the new year. We also had two lessons with our truck driver

LIGHT THE WORLD!! December 11,2017

Hey Friends and Family! How is everyone doing? I can't believe it's almost Christmas! Time is flying by so fast! This week has been an adventure though, we've had a lot of good things happen which is awesome :) We had our interviews with our mission president and his wife this week which was wonderful! We always learn so much from them. We talked about how we should plan with the Lord in everything we do. As we pray we should be specific so that those on the other side of the veil can know what we are doing and how they can help. Isn't that so cool to think about?? My mission president's wife was telling that to my companion and I and I loved it! It's so important that we express our thoughts and desires to the Lord so that He can help us. He wants us to reach out to Him, that way He can lift us up. Which ties in perfectly with the Light the World, because in the main video for it, it shows Christ lifting people up. That is the whole purpose of this initiati
