SICKYPOO ON THE MISSION December 18, 2017

This week was an adventure! A lot of good things happened, but sadly I was also sick all week. I had a cold and cough that just made it a little difficult to talk which is hard being a missionary, but everything worked out the way it was supposed to and we had a fun week. We did lots of service and got to help the Coleman theater for a show they had. It was the first sold out show since the 50s so that was exciting! :) We also had a big lunch with the other missionaries near us, because it was our senior couple, Elder Chipman's birthday. They are so sweet and it was so fun being with the other missionaries.

Another amazing thing that happened this week was we had a lesson with our investigator named Joseph. He's been loving meeting with us and learning more about the gospel, so this week we invited him to be baptized and he said yes! We are looking forward to helping prepare him to enter the waters of baptism in the new year. We also had two lessons with our truck driver friend James, who is getting baptized on the 30th of this month and he is awesome! We have been planning the baptism and he is so excited to become a member of the ward, it's fantastic! We have really been able to see the Lord's hand in our lives in this area this week and it's so amazing to see the people He is preparing! We've been getting a lot of referrals for people to teach and meet this week, so we are looking forward to meeting lots more people who are being prepared to hear the gospel :)

Something we have been working hard on this week has been to Light the World. It's been so great seeing all the miracles and things that are happening as we go out and do those little acts of service each day. I know that through all our little efforts the Lord is blessing not only them, but us as well. It's through the small things that great things come to pass. Alma 37:6-7.

I hope you have all been reaching out to those around you and enjoying the Christmas season! Every effort counts and is a blessing to someone else. I love and miss you all so much! I hope you have a blessed week and are looking forward to Christmas and celebrating the day of Christ's birth.

Don't forget to remember why this season is so special, and the true meaning of Christmas.
Love, Sister Burton

Sugar cookie season!

My companion and I have been doing the 12 days of Christmas and opening a little gift each day, it's been so much fun!

SMALL AND SIMPLE January 21, 2019

Hello friends and family!  It has been an adventure of a week, that's for sure! We had a super fun last night at Bob and Wanda's. Some of the people from Prairie Grove came down to hear me sing again. It was sad saying goodbye to everyone, but I know Heavenly Father has a plan for me. Then we went to the Senior center on Tuesday and delivered meals to 66 different houses! That was fun running around and giving people meals. They were a lot more open and excited to see us, that's for sure :) Haha! Then we had my last group lesson Tuesday night. We did the Book of Mormon experiment and had everyone take a page from the Book of Mormon and then highlight every time it mentions the Savior and things that stood out to you. We had an amazing discussion and everyone participated in it. So good!! Wednesday I packed and said goodbye to more people, I definitely miss Van Buren. But. Thursday I made it safely to MOUNTAIN HOME!! woohoo!! I met my new companion sister Chandler and she ...

ROUTE 66 April 25, 2018

This week we had Zone Conference and went on exchanges in Joplin again. It was a blast! We enjoyed learning so much from our mission president and his wife. Good things are happening and I love it! We talked a lot about personal revelation as well. It's very important for us to recognize how Heavenly Father speaks to us so that we can act on the things we are prompted to do. So many good things, I'm not even sure what to tell you! haha  My wonderful companion and I went and played volleyball with our investigator, we just rode by and they were out playing so we joined them and Sister Najera went to hit the ball and I was talking with our investigator and she nailed me in the head. It was so funny! Luckily it was a soft ball, but it just reminded me of the times playing volleyball with the YSA back home. We also met the guy who owns the little Dairy King in commerce which is a landmark on Route 66. It was so cool! He had previously met with missionaries and has read the who...
