TRIALS AND MIRACLES June 11, 2018

Hey Friends and Family!!

We had some ups and downs this week, but mostly ups :) We had our last interviews with President and Sister Loveland which was so good, but so sad they are leaving!! It was funny though because when we walked into the building President Loveland scared us and then as we walked farther down the hall Sister Loveland snuck up on us and scared us too! It was so funny! They have been wonderful mission parents :)

Another fun thing this week, we got to go to girls camp!! woohoo! We were asked to come give an opening devotional and talk to the girls about Sharing their Light. It was wonderful and so much fun being able to teach them all! Girls camp is wonderful. (We also saw a bobcat cross the street on the way there! It was crazy! )

Sister Wamsley and I both had a rough Thursday though and we just cried for a long time, but it was really good. I have a hard time expressing my feelings sometimes and then it just builds up until I lose it and that's kind of what happened, but after crying I feel much better. Our Sister Training leaders called and talked to us and gave us a really good scripture, Alma 38:2-5 and this helped so much! I am so grateful for the missionaries that I am around at this time. I feel much more prepared to continue to give my all to work.

After we had a rough day, I had been looking through the old area book and found some former investigators that never got transferred to the phone so we decided to go visit them. We went to one house and she opened the door and said "oh hi, I have kids in the back in the pool, want to walk around and we can talk back there?" Then we quickly said yes and walked around back. She had been meeting with the missionaries for 7 years and then the Elders stopped coming. She was very nice and open when were there. Her friend who lives in Springdale was over visiting and she had a lot of questions for us. After we introduced ourselves she started asking questions about missionaries and the lady we originally came to see mentioned how the Elders helped her with her yardwork a lot and her friend said I don't have anyone coming over to my house to help me?? It was funny. But then she started to ask more serious questions. She mentioned how she was very close with her mom, but then she passed away and it was really hard for her. She said her husband and her were talking about what happens to people in other countries who didn't have a chance to hear the gospel? and Sister Wamsley said, well we can answer that question and she got so excited that we could actually answer it for her. We talked about the Spirit world and she started to cry. She said she was so happy because she was so worried about her mom and what would happen to her. The Spirit was so strong as she was able to learn this truth about the gospel and what it meant to her was so touching. She was also thrilled when we gave her a Book of Mormon and showed her the gospel library app. It was such an amazing experience because after we had told her this she turned to her friend and said, "You KNEW this??" and she seemed a little upset because her friend knew it and didn't share it with her. It was a testimony builder for me, because we don't always know what people need, but we know the gospel of Jesus Christ can help them. So even if they don't seem interested in the church, they have a question that only the gospel can answer and all we have to do is ask and invite them. I am so grateful for Heavenly Father and His timing. I know that that was where we needed to be at that time. It was an amazing experience.

I'm so grateful for the opportunity to grow this week. I feel very connected to my Heavenly Father and my Savior Jesus Christ. I know that EVERYTHING I go through, Christ has already overcome it and this brings me so much peace.

I hope you all have a wonderful week! It's okay to have some rough days, just remember to turn it over to the Savior and try again the next day! You CAN do hard things! I love and miss you all!

Love, Sister Burton

SMALL AND SIMPLE January 21, 2019

Hello friends and family!  It has been an adventure of a week, that's for sure! We had a super fun last night at Bob and Wanda's. Some of the people from Prairie Grove came down to hear me sing again. It was sad saying goodbye to everyone, but I know Heavenly Father has a plan for me. Then we went to the Senior center on Tuesday and delivered meals to 66 different houses! That was fun running around and giving people meals. They were a lot more open and excited to see us, that's for sure :) Haha! Then we had my last group lesson Tuesday night. We did the Book of Mormon experiment and had everyone take a page from the Book of Mormon and then highlight every time it mentions the Savior and things that stood out to you. We had an amazing discussion and everyone participated in it. So good!! Wednesday I packed and said goodbye to more people, I definitely miss Van Buren. But. Thursday I made it safely to MOUNTAIN HOME!! woohoo!! I met my new companion sister Chandler and she ...

ROUTE 66 April 25, 2018

This week we had Zone Conference and went on exchanges in Joplin again. It was a blast! We enjoyed learning so much from our mission president and his wife. Good things are happening and I love it! We talked a lot about personal revelation as well. It's very important for us to recognize how Heavenly Father speaks to us so that we can act on the things we are prompted to do. So many good things, I'm not even sure what to tell you! haha  My wonderful companion and I went and played volleyball with our investigator, we just rode by and they were out playing so we joined them and Sister Najera went to hit the ball and I was talking with our investigator and she nailed me in the head. It was so funny! Luckily it was a soft ball, but it just reminded me of the times playing volleyball with the YSA back home. We also met the guy who owns the little Dairy King in commerce which is a landmark on Route 66. It was so cool! He had previously met with missionaries and has read the who...
