How Can We Represent the Savior? October 30, 2017

Hello Friends and Family!

How is everyone doing?? So many wonderful things are happening here in Springfield Missouri, I hope the same for everyone back home :)  Soo many miracles, I don't even know where to start! haha but first off, we had zone conference this week which was awesome! Our mission president and his wife talked about how we can represent the Savior and share the gospel with everyone. I loved this and one thing I took away was to always have something to share with someone. Especially being near a college campus, we see people all the time so I am going to work on always having a doctrine of Christ or spiritual message to share with all those we talk to. I'm excited about this :)

Another amazing thing that happened this week was Payton, the member in our ward who reached out to sister and set up an appointment for us to meet with her, well we got to meet her! Her name is Sasha and she is so cool! She has been reading from the Book of Mormon and has so many questions, but I just admire her desire to become closer to her Savior Jesus Christ and she has become so happy, it's fantastic! The first time we met with her she wasn't sure she could be happy, but now, she said she feels the love and happiness that comes from being in our church building and from talking about the gospel. I LOVE IT!! I'm so proud of Payton and her willingness to act on her prompting.

Also, it was ISABEL'S BAPTISM yesterday!!! YAYAY! Isabel is so cool!! She comes from a Jehovah's Witness family and they were so against her being baptized, but she knows the church is true and did it anyway. I admire her as well, because she really acted on faith and it's amazing the things she's been doing. She's also been coming to church every Sunday for a while now so when they mentioned her baptism yesterday a lot of the members came up and said they were surprised to hear that cause they thought she was already a member! haha it was so funny and I think it's amazing the example she is being for her family :)

Some fun stories, we went out to get frozen yogurt with Isabel and Payton and it was so much fun talking with them! They make me laugh so hard it's awesome, but at one point Payton accidently honked the horn and said "OH man! Someone just honked at me!" and we were all like no Payton, that was you! Good times with those two :)
We did a spinning wheel thing at our table this week at MSU to talk to people about the gospel and we had a lot of success. We got 6 new investigators, people who wanted to learn more and set a return appointment, just from that and it was so cool!

We learned this analogy from zone conference where you draw a line with an arrow at each end facing the opposite direction. The Lord is walking one direction and you are walking the other, will your paths ever meet? No, but if we use repentance we can correct ourselves and be turned around on the right path and also if we use faith we can jump on that path in the direction of the
Savior so then our paths will meet. I hope this makes sense, I'm sorry I can't draw it for you, but I love this because it's true. As we repent and act on faith we can be headed in the same direction as the Savior. I encourage you all to find ways that you can represent the Savior this week and write them down. Put them on a sticky note on the door as you walk out each morning or the fridge or by your bed. Somewhere where you will remember and focus on that as you go throughout you day.

I love and miss you all so much!! Thank you for all the love and support you give me!! I hope you all have an amazing week! :)

Love, Sister Burton

MERRY CHRISTMAS!! December 24, 2018

It's been an adventure of a week!  It started with our fun skit lesson we did with the elders. We have a family that feeds us every Tuesday and her sister lives in the Alma ward and her niece is being taught by the Elders so they asked if we could all do a lesson together at the church so we did! We (missionaries) acted out the scene of 1st Nephi when they go and get the plates. It was so much fun! It was a great to bring the scriptures to life and they all loved it. Plus, I got to be Laman and Lemuel so that was fun. After the skit we had a discussion about the faith that Nephi had for them to get the plates and how Laman and Lemuel repented from rebelling and they had to act on their faith as well. It was really special because then the lady who feeds us, both of her sisters aren't members and they were talking about baptism and learning more as well. So amazing!!! It was a great night. We are going to have another big lesson with them on Wednesday and I'll let y...

CHRISTMAS EVERYDAY!! December 17,2108

Woohoo! It's almost Christmas!!! One of our favorite songs right now is Christmas everyday by David archuleta. It you haven't heard it, I encourage you to go listen to it and his whole album. Ah. So good! It's been an eventful week as well!  We had MLC in bentonville which is where we went and talked about plans for our zone conference and future district councils. It was so much fun! Sister Rosenberg was called to be the other sister training leader so we get to go to that meeting together and we were able to do exchanges all day Wednesday and I stayed in Prairie Grove. It was so cool!!! I got to see a lot of the people I love and miss from that area. It was a blast being able to see them and be in their homes again. We had zone conference on Thursday and it was so fun! Since its Christmas it was a 2 hour meeting and the rest was just games and a talent show. Super cool! There are a ton of talented missionaries here. There was singing, kickboxing, roller skating, piano...
