THE POWER OF THE HOLY GHOST 10/23/2017

Hey Everyone!!!

This week was so great! We had a lot of fun things happen it's been a blast. Last Monday night we had FHE with the YSA and our investigators were there so we stayed and helped carve pumpkins it was so fun! The pumpkins were lovely and really set the mood for Halloween, it's still crazy to think that it's almost here already!

We also did service this week at a place called Next to New which is like a thrift store for clothes. It's fun and we enjoy helping them with it. I love being able to do service each week, because it really does help you focus on others instead of yourself and for me, I just feel so much better about it knowing that I am helping someone else. It's the best feeling :)

Another thing we did this week was focus on teach when you find, find when you teach. We spent a lot of time on MSU campus and talked to a lot of different people which was awesome because so many people have a desire to hear something uplifting and it's so cool to think that we have the Book of Mormon to share with them to give them that uplifting thought. We have a table at MSU each Thursday where we get to talk to everyone that walks by and introduce our church to them. We did a game this week where if they picked a sucker and it had a green bottom they would win a full size candy bar and information about our activities. It was super fun. They may be college students, but who is going to pass up a chance to win a full size candy bar? Not them. haha it was a really good experience for me as to opening my mouth and really talking with everyone. I love it here.

Something really cool that happened this week was one of our recent converts had an amazing experience. She was the only one who is baptized in her family, but ever since she's been baptized she has felt prompted to share the gospel with her family. Yesterday at Sacrament meeting she really felt the Spirit telling her to share something with her sister that she hasn't been talking to very much, but she did! She acted on her prompting and shared the video Because of Him and her sister really liked it and asked if she could meet with us tomorrow. It is amazing what can happen as we head to the promptings of the Spirit. I have seen many different miracles because of that and can't wait to see more. I encourage all of you to act on the promptings that you have, because even if they are small they will help build the Lord's Kingdom. The scripture that I wanted to share today was Alma 37:6-7 because I love how he talks about the Lord working by small and simple means. By those small actions and by following those promptings is how God works and can bring his children closer to Christ. I know that my testimony continues to grow of this doctrine and I am so grateful to be a witness out here in Springfield of the many miracles that are happening because of those small things. I hope you all have an opportunity to see the Lord's hand in your life and see how those small things are impacting others or even yourself.

I love you all and am so grateful for the love and support you give me! I am so grateful for all the wonderful emails you send me! I love seeing them and all the pictures you send!:) I hope you all have a wonderful week full of lots of opportunities to share the gospel! :)

Love, Sister Burton

ps, my nickname here is Sis-Tim Burton haha it's been fun but a lot of people call me that now. I think it's cause it's almost Halloween and it's also a YSA ward, but good times! I love it!

Temple Tuesday November 13, 2017

Hey Friends!! This week was so fun!! We had the amazing opportunity to go to the St.Louis temple this week! I loved it so much! I am so grateful we were able to go because we don't have on in our mission, but blessed with the best mission president :) We also had a fun time with our zone this week and did interviews with our mission president and his wife. They are such great people with lots of advice for us missionaries, I love it!  Something amazing that happened this week was we had exchanges with the traveling sisters (they go around the mission visiting all the sisters) and so there were four sisters just in our area, but it was the busiest day of the week! We had so many lessons that with each companionship we didn't have any gaps of time. It was such a cool miracle because we were able to teach so many people and have such a great experience. I just thought that was so cool!  Another thing that I started this week was reading the Book of Mormon and just...

FAREWELL VAN BUREN January 14, 2019

TRANSFERS!!! I am..... leaving! I am going to Mountain Home Arkansas where I will spend my last 6 weeks on the mission! Crazy!! I'm sad to leave Van Buren, but excited to go and make the most of this last transfer. Sister Buhler is staying and training so that's super awesome! I'm going to be with Sister Chandler (I haven't met her yet so that's exciting!) But I'll also be in the same district (area) as my MTC companion sister McNeil!!! I'm so excited about that! In addition to transfer calls, it's been an adventure of a week! So much I feel like has happened. We sang at Bob and Wanda's last Monday and the Vines and Yannick from Prairie Grove came down to see me!! It was so awesome! Another thing that happened was we got a lot of referrals! We had our meeting with the other missionaries on Wednesday and we set a challenge for each of us to find 3 new people to teach before Sunday and so we all were out and working hard to find people a...

FOR WITH GOD NOTHING SHALL BE IMPOSSIBLE April 16, 2018

Hi Friends and Family!!  This week was so great! I love seeing the connections that we all have with people. There's always someone who knows someone. It's exciting. We went on exchanges with the Joplin 2nd sisters and that morning on our way there our member was telling me about where her son used to work and I had never heard of it before. Then we were teaching one of their investigators and he worked at the same place! So I asked if he knew our member and he said yes. It was so cool to be able to make that connection. It's the little things in life that make me so happy :) haha    Another amazing spiritual experience we had this week was, one of our investigators has been struggling with not smoking. We would give her the stop smoking workshop, talk about ways to stop, but turns out her reason for not stopping was simply because she didn't really want to. She liked her habit and so then she asked us to give her a couple weeks before we meet again. The next...
