I'M TRAINING?! February 12, 2018

Good Morning!!

So guess what?? I am staying in Miami another 6 weeks and I will be training Sister Lopez! I am so excited and nervous at the same time! I know nothing about her yet other than her name, so it will be fun to get to know her. I am so sad to have to say goodbye to Sister Robinette though. We have had so much fun together and it's just been a blast, but I know we will always be friends and I know I'll have fun with Sister Lopez as well :)

We went on exchanges with the Joplin Sisters so we had four sisters in this area! It was so much fun! We also had district meeting in our building which was exciting and different. We had to do the dying pictures because Elder Rodgers and Sister Robinette are going home this week. That's why we have those pictures. It was fun. It's going to be sad when they leave, we've had an amazing district this transfer. But it'll be fun next week too with our new district! I still can't believe I'm staying here another 6 weeks! This is the longest place I've been so far, and I love it! :)

Spiritual Experience: We had a lesson with an investigator named Tracy at the church yesterday. We watched the Restoration with her and she loved it. She didn't realize how much Joseph Smith actually had to go through and that it was right here in Missouri. Then we invited her to set a baptism date and she wants to be baptized as soon as she can. She has been working on the Word of Wisdom for over a week now and she had an amazing experience with that. She was telling us how one day she met with us and felt the Spirit so strong. She had a good feeling inside her, then when she went home and the minute she lit the cigarette, that feeling was gone. She can tell the difference from when the Spirit is with her and when He's not. It was amazing because right then she decided she wanted that feeling to stay with her. Ever since then she has been working towards being ready for her baptism which will be March 10th. We are very excited for her and know that she will be amazing in the church. I love how we have technology and are able to share videos like that to help someone see that this is the Lord's church and Joseph Smith was indeed a Prophet of God. I am so grateful for the power of the Spirit and I have seen how important it is to have the Spirit with you during lessons. It was a wonderful spiritual experience to be a part of.

Another experience this week was I finished the Book of Mormon! I was so amazing being able to pray after I finished and feel the Spirit testifying to me that it is true. I know it's true. I have read it, prayed about it, and received my answer. I know that we can all receive the answer for ourselves as we put forth the effort to read and pray about it. I am so grateful for the blessing that we have of having the Book of Mormon at our figertips! It's right here, and it testifies of Jesus Christ. I feel that I have learned so much about Him as I read the book and I honestly feel so much closer to Him as well. I am so grateful for this knowledge. I encourage you all to strive to read it each day as the Prophet has invited us. I know you will be able to know for yourselves that it is true by the power of the Holy Ghost. I have a strong testimony of this. I'm starting the Book of Mormon again and I'm so excited! This time I'm going to be focusing more on faith and how it relates to my missionary purpose.

I hope you all have a wonderful week!! Thank you for all you love and support!
Love, Sister Burton

Also for Facebook: We aren't allowed to chat on it right now, so I won't be able to comment back on what you say. We will be using it as a way to contact with investigators or people in our areas. We aren't posting on it yet, but we most likely will in the future. It's so exciting and will be a wonderful tool! Thank you for all your love you send me!

This is us at Sister Robinson's house having a lesson with Joseph! So fun!

Hey Y'all!!  This week was sooo good!! There are so many things that happened I don't know where to start. Last week on Pday we went to the Walmart Museum which was really cool! It was fun learning about the history, plus the best part was the ice cream at the end haha :) Then on Tuesday we went on exchanges and I went with Sister Buttars who is super funny and it was cool seeing her area of the mission. Funny story: One night this week we had dinner with a family and they didn't have dessert which we thought was great because we get fed so much. Then we went walking in a neighborhood visiting some members and we stopped at three houses. All three said, would you like a cookie?? So we had lots of cookies haha it was fun though. One of those houses was our mission president, because they are in our ward so that was fun :) Thursday we went to the mission office and got a Tiwi.. it's the thing that monitors our cars and ours has been broken until now. It took some gett...

OKLAHOMA ADVENTURES November 27, 2017

Happy Thanksgiving!!!  I hope you all had a lovely Thanksgiving on Thursday ! My companion and I were nicely fed by our new Bishop and his family. It was so nice! It's been an adventure shotgunning this area with two new missionaries. The area is huge here, but the members are few. Also, we don't have a car yet and we aren't sure if we will get one and my bike is in Bentonville sadly so we will have to wait till the end of this week to get that. So right now we are walking! It's been fun though, because we've been able to talk to more people that way. However we can only walk around Miami and it's a lot of walking haha but I love being here! :)  My companion is Sister Knight and she's from South Ogden Utah and has been out 6 Months. She has been in three areas as well and we get along great! We've been really working hard to get to know all the members and get to know the area since we are both new and there haven't been missionaries since J...
