THUNDERSTORMS! August 20, 2018

Hey friends and family!!

What an adventure this week with the weather! Everyone has been telling us this isn't normal for August and I think it's because Heavenly Father knows there are Utah girls serving here and can't handle the 100 degree weather with 100% humidity haha. The thunderstorms are wonderful too! Although, we did have a tornado warning for a little bit yesterday, but it went away.

We had a really great week this week! We had zone conference on Thursday and it was our first one with President and Sister Strong. It was so great!! We focused a lot on preach my gospel and how we can use our technology more. It's very exciting! So, I will be posting more on Facebook, but I am not allowed to use it as a way of communication. I will respond to comments on what I post, but just a response. This way I don't get distracted on Facebook and just use it as a tool to share the gospel! but feel free to share what I post if you want :) Thank you for understanding!! :)

We had two wonderful miracles happen yesterday that I want to share! One, we went to church yesterday and Yannick was there again!! He was so happy to be there and was talking to lots of the members. It was awesome. He was so sweet too and felt so bad about leaving last week before third hour, so he made it a point to stay for priesthood. He still has lots of questions, but we'll be meeting with him this week and hopefully start teaching him the lessons! It was so amazing seeing how prepared he is to hear the gospel. Also, he told us that he found out his mom is actually a member! She got baptized a long time ago, but he thought it was so cool to hear she was a member of this church. I am so excited to start teaching him! :)
Second, fellowshipping is REAL. We've been teaching this man who is married to a member for a long time. He said he feels that this is where he should be and will eventually get baptized, but he isn't sure right now. But he has been slowly progressing. He has started staying for our gospel principles class which is wonderful! Yesterday, we had a member come with us to his lesson. Now this member has a lot in common with the man we are teaching and we asked him if he would be willing to share his conversion story during our lesson. The Spirit was SO STRONG. You could tell this man was understanding more. It was amazing! This member was also able to share an analogy about motorcycles to help him understand which was awesome because my companion don't get it at all haha. It just really testified to me the importance of fellowship. Missionaries will not always be here, but members will. It also means more when members express their testimonies sometimes then it does hearing the missionaries say it. Heavenly Father's work to gather His children is not the missionaries duty alone, it takes ALL of us to help gather Israel.

I love and miss you all!! Thank yo so much for all your love and support!! I hope you have an AMAZING week!! And I challenge you to SMILE at the people you see each day, because even though we are different, we are ALL God's children. Plus it helps the missionaries out a ton if people already have positive experiences with members of the church ;) Y'all are amazing!

Love, Sister Burton

MERRY CHRISTMAS!! December 24, 2018

It's been an adventure of a week!  It started with our fun skit lesson we did with the elders. We have a family that feeds us every Tuesday and her sister lives in the Alma ward and her niece is being taught by the Elders so they asked if we could all do a lesson together at the church so we did! We (missionaries) acted out the scene of 1st Nephi when they go and get the plates. It was so much fun! It was a great to bring the scriptures to life and they all loved it. Plus, I got to be Laman and Lemuel so that was fun. After the skit we had a discussion about the faith that Nephi had for them to get the plates and how Laman and Lemuel repented from rebelling and they had to act on their faith as well. It was really special because then the lady who feeds us, both of her sisters aren't members and they were talking about baptism and learning more as well. So amazing!!! It was a great night. We are going to have another big lesson with them on Wednesday and I'll let y...

CHRISTMAS EVERYDAY!! December 17,2108

Woohoo! It's almost Christmas!!! One of our favorite songs right now is Christmas everyday by David archuleta. It you haven't heard it, I encourage you to go listen to it and his whole album. Ah. So good! It's been an eventful week as well!  We had MLC in bentonville which is where we went and talked about plans for our zone conference and future district councils. It was so much fun! Sister Rosenberg was called to be the other sister training leader so we get to go to that meeting together and we were able to do exchanges all day Wednesday and I stayed in Prairie Grove. It was so cool!!! I got to see a lot of the people I love and miss from that area. It was a blast being able to see them and be in their homes again. We had zone conference on Thursday and it was so fun! Since its Christmas it was a 2 hour meeting and the rest was just games and a talent show. Super cool! There are a ton of talented missionaries here. There was singing, kickboxing, roller skating, piano...
