Happy Thanksgiving!!!
I hope you all had a lovely Thanksgiving on Thursday! My companion and I were nicely fed by our new Bishop and his family. It was so nice! It's been an adventure shotgunning this area with two new missionaries. The area is huge here, but the members are few. Also, we don't have a car yet and we aren't sure if we will get one and my bike is in Bentonville sadly so we will have to wait till the end of this week to get that. So right now we are walking! It's been fun though, because we've been able to talk to more people that way. However we can only walk around Miami and it's a lot of walking haha but I love being here! :)
My companion is Sister Knight and she's from South Ogden Utah and has been out 6 Months. She has been in three areas as well and we get along great! We've been really working hard to get to know all the members and get to know the area since we are both new and there haven't been missionaries since July. But it's been fun. The members here are amazing! They are so sweet! There are about 80 members total in this ward, but they are all fantastic. Sunday was our primary program and there were 5 kids. It was so cute. We had an investigator there and he thought it was adorable and kinda funny. :)
Miracles are happening in Miami! We have been tracting (knocking on doors) a lot trying to find those who are prepared to hear the restored gospel of Jesus Christ and sharing our message about the Light the World initiative and we have had a lot of success with nice people willing to participate. We also were able to give four Book of Mormon's out and set up appointments. I am so excited for the work that is happening here. I know there are prepared people waiting for us to come teach them and I can't wait to find them all! My testimony has grown so much already just from being here and really focusing on helping the people. I have really tried to follow Gordon B. Hinckley's advice to "Forget yourself, and get to work." I know that I have been given the knowledge and am prepared to be here to teach I just need to go out and open my mouth to all those I meet. I love being a missionary and I am so grateful for the blessings that come from sharing the gospel with others.
I hope you all have a chance to reach out to others this Christmas and really focus on lifting others the way Christ did. I love and miss you all so much! I hope you all have a fantastic week! Enjoy all the leftover turkey and pie! :)
Love, Sister Burton
